Dalasetur is a charming little place, located in Unadalur Valley in Skagafjörður, North West Iceland. Skagafjörður is the area where I grew up in and it was my parents that introduced me to this place last year when I was up there for a visit. My mom said to me: “Jórunn, you have to go and check out this lovely little café in Unadalur. It’s so cute, I know you’ll love it”. And she was right. I did 🙂
The café is new as it only opened last summer. I know it will be open again this summer (2024) and sure hope it will be for the coming summers with its homemade goodies.
But the café is not the only thing you’ll find at Dalasetur. The family that owns the café also has a few summer houses on the premises which they rent out to tourists. They have been doing it for a few years now and are rated as Superhosts and Guest Favorite on Airbnb.
A little side note: I you decide to stay at Dalasetur (or you’re just driving through the area) you definitely don’t want to miss Hofsós, a small village nearby. What this tiny village lacks in size it certainly makes up for in interesting activities. Spoiler alert! Among those activities is an infinity pool with an amazing view 🤩
But let’s get back to Dalasetur. The whole area is so cozy. They have planted plenty of trees and bushes which makes the area wonderfully green in summer. There is a hot tub down by the river (what a nice touch, right?) and they have made a cozy little spot where guests can gather and sit around a fire pit. Here you’ll also find an outdoor sauna and plenty of options for hiking.
In winter you get prime conditions for viewing the northern lights. If they show up, the owners turn off all outdoor lights so you can enjoy the northern lights dancing in the sky in total darkness. Pretty cool, right?
A perfect little place for a little pit stop in summer far away from the hustle and bustle. Or a place to stay the night (year round) depending on your plans in the area.
Well, that’s it for now. If you liked this post about my Iceland nugget and think some of your friends might be interested in reading it too, please help me spread the word. I’d really appreciate it if you’d share it on social media or just send it directly to a friend.
Until next time!
Ps. Just to be clear. I do not get paid for writing this, I just loved the place when I visited and think everybody should know about it 🙂
Pss. See their website for further information, how to get there and to book their cabins.
